Overview

Superbly positioned within the Manda Wilderness Conservation Area on the Mozambique shoreline of Lake Malawi (known in Mozambique as Lake Niassa), Nkwichi Lodge has the best location of all. The lodge is situated at the foot of a bluff in the Rift Valley, which means that it only takes a few minutes to walk up behind the lodge, gain some height and look out over the lake towards Malawi.
The lodge is cleverly designed to blend seamlessly with its landscape through the use of rocks and local materials. With only a maximum of 14 people staying at this Lake Malawi lodge, guests are assured of an intimate and exclusive stay in a relaxed and tranquil setting.
Nkwichi Lodge provides accommodation in 6 individually designed chalets and 2 houses suited for families or group of friends traveling together. The 6 chalets are discreetly tucked away in the tree line, incorporating the surrounding trees and boulders into their design.
Each chalet features an en-suite bathroom with bathtub carved out of natural rock and a shower hung from overhanging branches. Out in front of the chalets is a thatch-covered veranda with comfortable armchairs and hammocks to relax in.
Makolo House offers 2 bedrooms and private access to the lake. The Songea House and Chalet comprises a sunken lounge and open dining area as well as 1 bedroom in the house and another in the free-standing chalet with an en-suite bathroom.
Nkwichi Lodge has 2 sitting areas, one downstairs and the other upstairs with spectacular vistas of Lake Malawi. The dining and bar areas are also situated upstairs. A fig tree platform built amongst the enormous granite boulders on the lakeshore provides another popular spot for guests to dine or relax.
