Sossus Dune Lodge

Comfortable and warm hospitality make this Namibian holiday resort the essential destination when coming to absorb the powerful beauty of Namibia’s oldest dunes. Be the first to get to Sossusvlei dunes before the gates open and enjoy the privilege of photographing the sunsets when the crowds have gone. Explore the Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei, surrounded by the Namib Desert.

Situated within the park, guests benefit from being able to reach Sossusvlei before sunrise, and to stay until after sunset.

  • The only lodge within the Namib-Naukluft National Park
  • Guests can walk directly from the lodge into the nearby Sesriem Canyon
  • Magnificent views of the distant dunes
  • Luxury chalets

There is only one location from which to explore the Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei, surrounded by the Namib Desert – and that is the Sossus Dune Lodge.
World class service, excellent facilities and warm hospitality make this Namibian holiday resort the essential destination when coming to absorb the powerful beauty of Namibia’s oldest dunes.
Originally the first exclusive lodge to be built by the Namibia Wildlife Resorts, Sossus Dune Lodge is the only lodge found inside the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Guests therefore have first access to the dunes at Sossusvlei before the gates open in the mornings and after they have closed in the evenings!
Travel just four kilometres from the Sesriem gate to accommodation in 25 chalets looking out over the dunes, mountains or canyons. All are joined by boardwalks lit up at night and all look very similar except for the honeymoon suite. Orange-yellow canvas walls cover a wooden frame with a thatched roof and large verandas invite long looks over the landscape.
Chalets are furnished with very African decor in a fun, modern way. Glass fronts allow sunrises to enter and views to constantly astonish visitors. Add to this fans, open showers, mini bars and tea and coffee making facilities. The honeymoon suite has an additional lounge with bed and couch plus complimentary champagne, snacks and fruit.
Sossus Dune Lodge is popular and offers many activities within the region including guided trips to Namibia’s famous Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon, guided nature drives into Namib Naukluft Park, sunset drives, nature walks, star gazing, bird watching and game viewing.
Back at the main lodge, relax at the swimming pool with its shady deck and eat awesome food in the large restaurant. The tasteful open-plan main area with lounge and bar bring the sunshine in and the heat out.
