The main focus at the Desert Homestead & Horse Trails is, of course, the horses. All docile and easy to handle, even for novice riders, the horses take guests out on morning and evening outrides. On the Sunrise Ride, the horses cruise past dry river beds and camel thorn trees, up mountain paths and across wide open plains. A mouth-watering buffet breakfast is served under a camel thorn tree after about two hours in the saddle – then the ride back to the stable is so easy!
The Sunset Ride takes riders through the interesting desert scenery until they meet a friendly barman with drinks and snacks and as the day turns to night, the horses amble the guests back to the stables.
Guided walks and excursions to Sossusvlei and the Naukluft Mountains are also on the cards while quad biking, scenic flights and hot air balloon safaris can be booked at extra cost.
