Elephant Valley Lodge lies between the Chobe National Park in Botswana and the Matetsi wildlife conservancy, south of the Kazangula border crossing and within the Kasane Forest Reserve. The camp comprises of 20 meru style luxury safari tents and can accommodate a maximum of 40 guests.
The lodge overlooks an extremely productive water hole. Activities include daily safaris and boat cruises into the Chobe National Park. The unique lodge location provides guests with game viewing opportunities throughout the day and night. Lodge facilities also include open guest areas, a viewing platform and a new rim-flow swimming pool overlooking the water hole.
This Botswana Safari lodge is a great place to make a base for a bush holiday – this area is popular with game viewers and the drives out to the Chobe National Park or the Matetsi Wildlife Conservancy are time consuming.
It takes 40 minutes to drive from the lodge to the entrance of the Chobe National Park – along a bumpy sandy track through Kasane Forest Reserve. From there, the real game drive begins.
Use Elephant Valley Lodge as a base at the start or end of a planned safari holiday. This inspiring setting is ideal from which to bird watch, take morning boat cruises up the Chobe River and a short game drive into the Park in the afternoon for sundowners amongst herds of animals. Game viewing opportunities by vehicle or boat day and night ensure that all guests are able to tick off the Big Five as well as a myriad other small, interesting creatures.
Accommodation in 20 Meru- styled luxury safari tents for 40 guests is laid out in beautiful gardens along the edge of the valley. These are linked by attractive sandy pathways which also lead guests to the main lodge.
Each deluxe tent boasts en-suite showers, tea and coffee stations and fans while the main area features a covered deck and swimming pool for hot days after long game drives. Lodge staff recommend a boat ride early morning to catch more animals on camera and fewer tourists; an afternoon game drive to avoid the crowds and to see animals at the best time of day when they are moving. Guests sit back in 10-seater open vehicles to get close to wild animals in both Chobe and Kasane Forest Reserve. Sit for hours at the waterhole in front of the main lodge under large shady acacia trees. Rolling lawns surround the swimming pool and a bird bath and bird table attract a colourful array of stunning endemic birds. Majestic thatched ceilings, African relics and space make the Elephant Valley Lodge the perfect place for comfortable dining and relaxing. Eat outside or inside at the dining room and retire to the bar for a nightcap.
