The tree of life, the Sycamore Fig, is the inspiration for Machaba Camp overlooking Moremi Game Reserve. Lining the Khwai River, 10 luxury tents nestle under these magnificent trees in one of Botswana’s best 4×4 safari regions. Visitors are treated to the daily march of animals as they saunter down to drink at the river right there, in front of the camp.
This is the heart of the Khwai Community Area where wildlife herds roam and predators lurk. Game viewing is at its best here on the eastern corner on the Okavango Delta where visitors watch great and small creatures while eating fresh breakfasts and delectable dinners. Machaba Camp is relaxed and unassuming – guests fit in and take advantage of the privacy and luxury.
Families are welcome to adventure in this camp, set within the jewel of the Kalahari. Machaba Camp accommodation includes two luxury family tents. Children of all ages will love the setting in the tall trees and the exciting game viewing safaris. The other eight luxury double tents offer couples a classic 1950s feel complete with en-suite bathrooms and idyllic outdoor showers. Meandering pathways lead guests to the main camp areas through silent riverine trees.
Peace and serenity ensure complete relaxation and a natural swimming pool overlooking the Okavango Delta is an ideal spot to cool off after the exhilaration of a morning game drive. Meals are a sumptuous gourmet without being pompous. Personal attention to detail and the simple luxuries in life include Mokoro trips up the river or walking safaris which are planned beforehand.
The Sycamore Figs – or Machaba trees – feed elephants, baboons, bush buck, green pigeons and other fascinating species with their juicy fruits. Sit back on the banks of the Khwai River with binoculars trained, drink in hand, and just be.
One of Botswana’s leading Tented Safari Camps, Machaba Camp is an affordable luxury in one of the most picturesque settings in all of Botswana. Both seasoned and first-time travellers will appreciate a few nights here
