Overview
Visit the most well-known watering hole for locals and travellers alike at Planet Baobab Botswana, on the road between Maun and Francistown, in the land of ancient Baobabs. For a funky, lively holiday in the Makgadikgadi Pans, stay at this hutted campsite situated in Gweta.

Planet Baobab resembles a giant anteater on the side of the worn road towards Maun. Colourful characters swarm here for the unique swimming pool, the elephants’ paddling pool and the awesome food including vegetarian delicacies. Children too will be entranced by the ancient 4000-year-old trees so typical of this part of Botswana.

Original accommodation in this lunar Makgadikgadi landscape reflects the local homes in the region: book one of 13 twins or three family BaKalanga or Baobab huts for two or four people. They contain en-suite bathrooms with showers, fans and mosquito nets. Family units boast central double beds with single beds on either side.
Four large Overlander Campsites and five public campsites feature braai facilities, an undercover dining area and funky communal ablution facilities with showers and hot water. Guests are invited to light their fires, gather around the communal fire in the lelwapa and have a toast to the mighty Makgadikgadi Pans.
When it is dry, mount a quad bike and ride across the Pans to the remote Kubu Island; when it is wet, watch the awesome migration of up to 75 000 zebras and wildebeest!

At Planet Baobab, there is so much to do, so little time! Visitors can choose guided walks and game drives into the Botswana bush or discovers the geological origins of Makgadikgadi Pans; follow the Palm Trail created by elephant droppings which dried up along with the lake thousands of years ago. Or maybe find ancient spearheads left by the Stone Age hunters who first lived here!
