Nairobi Packages & Accommodation

Nairobi

Welcome to Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya and also the biggest city in the country, a place where accommodation meets every visitor’s needs and budget, a place where finding the right package deal for your trip into the game reserves is easy and attainable.

Welcome to the bustling economic, political and administrative hub of Kenya, and headquarters of many international aid agencies – the gateway to some of the best game viewing regions in the world.

The name Nairobi is derived from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, meaning “place of cool waters” because Nairobi was constructed on a swamp and the Nairobi River flows through the city. Often called the Green City in the Sun, Nairobi was long known as the centre for the coffee, tea and sisal industry. Founded in 1899, it soon replaced Mombasa as the capital city and today is a thriving metropolis for millions of Kenyans and tourists.

Nairobi may be an enormous urban area but it also boasts numerous recreational green areas, the largest being the Nairobi National Park and others including Uhuru Park, Central Park, John Michuki Park, Nairobi Arboretum, City Park, Uhuru Gardens, Jeevanjee Gardens, Karura Forest, Ngong forest, and Ololua forest.

Matatus are the most common form of public transport in Nairobi, taxis for everyone. Matatu literally means “three cents for a ride” (nowadays much more) are privately owned minibuses, and the most popular form of local transport that can seat 14 to 33.
