What to do in Paternoster
This iconic fishing village is well known for its white washed cottages along the shore’ fresh seafood in abundance and amazing hospitality. There’s plenty to see and do, so you can be as busy as you want to be.
There’s a great tourist information center near Mosselbank Beach and you can get all the information you need there. Lunch at one of the beach restaurants will set the tone for a blissful break and there are many to chose from.
A must do is a relaxing low tide walk along Langstrand beach. Pack a picnic and after a seven km walk you will arrive at Groot Paternoster Nature Reserve. If you are there in July and August you will be blown away by the wild flowers in the reserve. There is great sea kayaking options amongst the rocks in the bay and the sea is usually pretty calm. A guided sea kayak trip to the Penguin sanctuary is also very popular.
Cape Columbine Lighthouse built in 1936 is worth a visit as it is the only manned lighthouse on the whole SA coast. You can also head over to Abalone House and enjoy a day of pampering at the in-house spa. It is well worth a visit and you will leave rejuvenated and refreshed.
