Ongava Lodge Overview

For visitors who want good guiding and game viewing on walking safaris and night drives, Ongava Lodge is strategically placed within the Ongava Reserve on the boundary of Etosha National Park. Situated near Andersson’s Gate, south of Okaukuejo, this Namibian safari lodge is a wonderful base from which to explore the two-game reserves.

Ongava Lodge is perched atop a rocky hill looking out over typical Namibian landscapes of animals, grasslands, deserts and waterholes. This was the first luxury game lodge near Etosha and now offers accommodation for visitors seeking luxurious solitude.

Stay in 14 stylishly decorated stone and thatch chalets, equipped with en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee stations, private viewing decks, complimentary toiletries, air-conditioning and mosquito nets. The central meeting place at Ongava Lodge in Namibia is the main lounge dining area with its splendid views down to the waterhole below and out to the Ondundozonanandana hills. Meals can be enjoyed here or in the night air on the deck beside the cool swimming pool.

Chill out in the library and get a curio or two at the small shop. There may be a fence between Ongava Reserve and Etosha National Park but smaller animals move freely between the two protected areas and larger animals sometimes break out. Think springbok, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, zebra, red hartebeest, giraffe, eland, Damara dik-dik, steenbok and klipspringer.

Some say that Ongava has the largest population of black-faced impala outside of Etosha – it also boasts many predators: lion, leopard, hyena and black-backed jackal.
