There may be a fence between Ongava Reserve and Etosha National Park but smaller animals move freely between the two protected areas and larger animals sometimes break out. Think springbok, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, zebra, red hartebeest, giraffe, eland, Damara dik-dik, steenbok and klipspringer.
Some say that Ongava has the largest population of black-faced impala outside of Etosha – it also boasts many predators: lion, leopard, hyena and black-backed jackal.
