Overview

The private land around Safarihoek stretches a vast 60 000 ha and features open, sparse savannas enriched with mopane woodlands, riverine forests and some salt pans dotted around. Starkly attractive dolomite hills offer refuge for mountain zebras, kudus and lions which guests can view up close from the waterholes and hides specially made for closeup game viewing.

Safarihoek Lodge is located in Etosha Heights, northern Namibia, where the black and white rhinos roam as well as herds of sable, black-faced impalas, giraffe, elephant and aardvark too. Track the rhinos on foot in the early mornings and maybe get really close to one of these prehistoric beasts!

Rooms at Safarihoek are tranquil refuges from all this outdoor activity with their minibars, tea and coffee-making facilities, outside showers with extensive grassland views, private decks and plush décor. You stay cool with air conditioning and thatched roofs and you head to the main lodge for delicious meals and drinks while game viewing all the while.

It’s a child-friendly and family-friendly accommodation venue near Etosha and children love the programme set up by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to promote environmental awareness for urban kids and inspire them to love nature and become ambassadors for the country’s wildlife.

Rhino conservation is a huge drive at Safarihoek and owners follow strict anti-poaching protocols to stop any illegal hunting along all boundaries of the reserve. Visitors can take drives into Etosha to see the contrasting landscapes and wildlife opportunities there too.
