Overview

Book the honeymoon of a lifetime at The Outpost Lodge way up north in the Pafui Section of the Kruger National Park. It is the Makuleke Concession,  falling right into the centre of the Great Limpopo National Park that consists of Kruger, Gaza National Park in Mozambique and Gonarezhou in Zimbabwe. An enormous untouched wilderness area packed with elephant herds, Nyala antelope and other herds of beautiful grazing wild animals and myriad bird species too. What more could a romantic couple ask for?

Dreamy modern safari accommodation in the honeymoon suite includes all meals, drinks and activities. Absorb breath-taking views of the Luvuvhu River Valley from open, airy cement screed rooms with ensuite baths and showers, looking across the bushveld to Mozambique. The other 11 individual suites also boast mini bars, mosquito nets, tea and coffee facilities and remote-controlled fabric screens.

The architecture of the lodge itself uses clean lines, simplicity and open space – steel and concrete have cleverly created a very attractive building which emphasises its natural setting and blends into the wilderness around it.

Hosting a total of 24 guests, the Outpost Lodge is very secluded, halfway up a hill with panoramic views into Kruger National Park. The modern bar attracts guests to meet one another and a large swimming pool and deck offer a great chilling place in the heat of the day. All buildings are linked with attractive Zimbabwean Teak boardwalks that enhance the feeling of being in the bush.

There is so much to see in the form of rare fauna and flora, including of course the Big Five roaming this 26 500 hectares of the Makuleke concession. Look out for sprawling herds of elephant and buffalo, Nyala and Tsessebe on game drives twice a day with experienced guides.

Daily hikes and walks to see birds is thrilling – see the colourful bushveld species and the large raptors and owls that belong in this wild place: Scarlet-chested Sunbirds, Broad billed Rollers, Redheaded Weavers, Wattle-eyed Flycatchers and Owls such as the Pel’s Fishing Owl, the Scops, White-faced, Pearl-Spotted and Giant Eagle Owl.
