Tswalu – The Motse

The ultimate in elegance and luxury, Tswalu the Motse is the main retreat of the Oppenheimer’s situated in the Tswalu Game Reserve in the Kalahari.  The Motse is newly remodeled by the legendary Boyd Ferguson and presents décor in a fantastical blend of African object d’art and modern furnishings.  The ambiance is stylish and graceful combined with the primal qualities of Africa.

The main area provides an exclusive spa and fully equipped gymnasium, a heated horizon pool, a wine cellar stocked with some of the best wines in the country, a wonderful library with Wi-Fi and satellite TV, its own museum with rare local artefacts, stylish and comfortable lounges, elevated decks and a curio shop.

Accommodation is provided in eight voluminous and secluded legeas made of rock, lush red clay, and thatch – all sourced locally from the natural surroundings.  Each of these luxury suites has an enormous bedroom with a fireplace, lavish en-suite bathroom, a private outdoor shower, and a comfortable lounge area.  Then there is also a private timber deck overlooking a well-frequented watering hole where you can relax while watching the animal activities around the water.  There are also a couple of suites especially intended for families.  These comprise two separate en-suite bedrooms and a spacious lounge area with a private deck.  The lodge can accommodate a maximum of twenty guests in order to make the experience more intimate.
