Pumba Private Game Reserve is home to the second known free-ranging, self-sustainable population of White Lions in Southern Africa. The reserve is home to a pride of White Lions, Tawny Coloured split gene Lions, some of which are wild-born. Pumba Water Lodge is in Pumba Private Game Reserve. You can choose to self-drive thereof fly in into the Port Elizabeth Airport and you will be transferred from the airport to the private game reserve.
If self-driving from the airport to the lodge, the driving time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
On arrival at the Pumba Water Lodge, you are going to be met by representatives of the Water Lodge who are going to assist you with your luggage. They will show you your Gemsbok Chalet which is spacious and individually decorated. There is a lounge area recessed from the bedroom with generous built-in daybed ideal for curling up with a good book whilst listening to the calls of Africa.
After settling in, you can get ready to go on a game drive. Enjoy what Pumba Water Lodge has to offer.
This morning be ready for your breakfast in bed. Among the list of activities, you are going to do is go on Big 5 Safari Drives.
With a qualified ranger, you are able to see predators such as Lions, Cheetahs, Buffalo, Leopards and Rhinos. Various types of buck and grazers. While our Big 5 are the main highlight, our land boasts an array of various fauna and flora. If you look carefully you can see horns/antlers that animals have left. We have morning, afternoon and specially arranged evening game drives.
After that, you can decide to go on guided bush walks. And if you are a bird lover, you can arrange a special bird safari- where you can take a journey through the Afromontane Forest. Using modern technology our Rangers are able to track and call birds closer for you to view.
Today, an early morning breakfast will be ready for you and soon after, you will get ready to leave the water Lodge. The representatives of Water Lodge will assist you with your luggage to your vehicle. We trust that you enjoyed your stay at the lodge and the interaction with nature and the big 5.
Now, you will head to the Oceana Beach and Wildlife for your 5 nights’ stay. The driving distance from the water lodge to the Oceana Beach is approximately 1 hour 35 minutes.
Be prepared for the many activities that this lodge has to offer.
Experience the thrill of encounters with Africa’s famous Big 5. Visit any of the Big 5 reserves within an hours’ drive.
The following day, book half day or full day trips with an accredited guide, in diverse habitats that produce a good variety of birds. Thereafter, you can enjoy a leisurely cruise and take in the beauty of the Kowie River in Port Alfred or the Kariega River in Kenton-on-Sea.
If you are an active outdoor enthusiast you can hire canoes to view the river birds, vegetation and wildlife. There are licensed skippers.
Today take a drive just 20 minutes to enjoy a leisurely round of 9 or 18 holes at either of the two top 100 golf courses in the area. A historical and cultural icon, Grahamstown is home of the National Arts Festival and Rhodes University. Bush and beach rides are available to riders of all levels of experience. Our bustling little jewel of the Sunshine Coast. Visit the museums or soak up the sun at the two blue flag beaches. Port Alfred offers spectacular and colorful offshore reef dives, ranging from beginner dives to advanced. Whales visit for about six months each year. Get up close to the 6th (and largest) unofficial member of the Big 5.

After breakfast, you will get ready to vacate your suite. The representative of the lodge will assist you with your luggage to your vehicle for your drive back to the airport or home. The distance from the Oceana Beach and Wildlife is approximately 1 hour 54 minutes. Safe journey driving home.
