Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1
3 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS
Self-drive to Pumba Water Lodge on a road trip or fly into Port Elizabeth airport and book a short one hour road transfer to the Pumba Lodge. Treat yourself to Gemsbok Chalet in this private game reserve, a spacious safari suite with a gorgeous master bedroom, lounge and outside day bed perfect for admiring the views over Lake Kariega. Pumba Water Lodge is home to a successful pride of rare white lions, now producing cubs. White lions battle to hunt as they are too noticeable for their prey – so they have been mixed with the tawny split-gene animals. There are fewer than 500 White lions in the world!
Day 2
After an early breakfast in bed and set off on the first of your Big 5 game drives through the 6 000 ha of prime game viewing country. Guided bush walks at Pumba Lodge are a hit here and bird lovers will be treated to an incredible array of bush and water birds, drives into the Afromontane forests, bass fishing on Lake Kariega, archery lessons, and a tour of the local staff village. Pop into Nature’s Health Spa for a special treatment at Bush Lodge or work out in the gym and cleanse in the steam room. Pumba Water Lodge is a true haven of biodiversity, conservation and socio-economic development.
Day 3
5 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS
After an early breakfast at Pumba Game Lodge South Africa, pack and leave this amazing experience behind. Enjoy the 90 minute transfer to the Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve for the next 5 nights. This is the beach part of your bush beach South Africa safari combo but luck has it that Oceana Wildlife Reserve Port Alfred is both a beach and bush destination! Spacious and airy, only 7 sea facing double suites offer luxury safari accommodation, with private decks and captivating views of the sand and sea. The accommodation is framed by indigenous shrubs and trees that create an easy island-living feel.
Days 4 – 5
Explore this stunning reserve, home to more than 220 species of bird and 30 animal species, including rhino, giraffe and more, often from your suite deck. On-site attractions include safari drives, spa treatments, fine dining, a games room, a swimming pool and beach activities. From golf to fishing, birdwatching and more, there are also many other activities to be enjoyed in and around the charming town of Port Alfred and its Kowie River. Hire canoes on the Kariega River in Kenton on Sea.
Days 6 – 7
This is your day to step out of the reserve and into the region of Port Alfred and Kenton-on-Sea. Play a round of golf at famous golf courses, visit Grahamstown’s famous Rhodes University and museums, and chill on a Sunshine Coast beach. Eat out in Kenton, dive on a colourful reef and look out for whales in the bay. What a beautiful province is the Eastern Cape! Head back to Oceana for a delicious seafood meal and a pampering massage.
Day 8
The last breakfast and it is time to leave the lodge. Drive back to Port Elizabeth airport if you are flying onward or self-drive to your next adventure destination in sunny South Africa. We hope that you enjoyed your 7-night bush beach adventure with Voyage2Africa!
