Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and enjoy the drive to Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge. It’s a sensory explosion of coffee pickers harvesting the beans, the fresh roasting aromas of freshly brewed coffee and the lush coffee plantations against the verdant hills. Take a scenic stroll in the perfectly manicured gardens where an oval swimming pool beckons on a hot day and splash out on some cool souvenirs at the two boutiques. 12 Plantation Suites sprawl through the emerald coffee fields with their coffee bean themes.

Day 2

Enjoy a fresh breakfast at Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge and a fascinating Bean-To-Cup coffee estate private tour. Making sure you buy coffee to take with you. A warm Shanga cultural experience then lunch and it’s time to fly to Kuro Airstrip in Tarangire National Park. Land, meet your ranger and game drive through the Park to Elewana Tarangire Treetops to get ready for your traditional Masai boma dinner.  You want to see jaw-dropping sightings of lions lounging in trees on brilliant game drives through the 3 000 square km park.

Day 3

Start your day with a wonderful breakfast at the camp then set off on a game drive all morning to explore Tanzania’s Manyara Region, a vital refuge for wildlife named after the Tarangire River crossing the region. Climb up to your thatched treehouse suite at Tarangire Treetops, in ancient baobab trees, and soak in breath-taking 360-degree panoramas of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara and the distinctive peak of majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. These delightful suites feature superb private wrap-around balconies and open bathrooms with a double shower. You will revel in a bush walk and a visit to a local Masai village, sundowners in the bush and dinner around the fire later.

Day 4

Enjoy your final breakfast at camp and revel in a morning game drive en-route to the airstrip with a delightful picnic in Tarangire National Park. Then fly to Manyara airstrip and drive to Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro for high tea. This traditional Cape Dutch style architecture in a captivating garden is on the border of the Ngorongoro Crater conservation area. The 18 deluxe suites, a family cottage and the central main house radiate a theme of stately European elegance and colourful East African chic. Dinner is an elegant affair.

Day 5

Breakfast at The Manor and set off your first game drive to Lake Manyara National Park, exploring the shores of the lake where more than 400 bird species, including thousands of pink flamingos and pelicans, huddle on their perpetual migration. A picnic in this wilderness may reveal the amazing herds of elephants gracing the acacia woodlands and lush forests, drinking at the edge of the lake in their hundreds.  Relax back at the Manor with a spa treatment, swim in the pool and dinner.

Day 6

Awaken for an early breakfast at The Manor and then it’s time for the full-day adventure into the Ngorongoro crater on tour with a picnic lunch. It’s hard to believe that the actual rim of the crater is an astounding 2 286m above sea level – a veritable mountain. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers enormous areas of pristine grasslands, savanna woodlands and forests. Look out for black rhinos, giant-tusked elephants, black-manned lions and about 6 000 resident wildebeest! Appreciate a welcoming dinner at the Manor later.

Day 7

It’s your final breakfast at The Manor then fly to Serengeti National Park, to stay in Elewana Serengeti Pioneer or Migration Camp, a fresh wholesome lunch laid on. Serengeti Migration Lodge is named after the biggest spectacle in East Africa, the great migration of wildebeest galore, zebra stampeding to greener pastures. Pioneer Camp is a special eco-camp with a minimal environmental footprint on the wilderness and offers select guests a true return to nature in only 12 tented suites featuring old-world safari décor. An al fresco lunch an evening safari and then dinner with fellow guests around the fire ends the perfect day in Africa.

Days 8 – 9

Awaken with the sun, enjoy breakfast at the camp then a full morning game drive in the mind-blowing Serengeti National Park. Migration Camp is intimate, raised between huge boulders from a lush hideout in the vegetation with sweeping grassland views. Only 20 tents on stilts feature polished wooden floors, comfy safari beds, leather armchairs and hot showers. Pioneer Camp is smaller, offering just 10 refined luxury tents boasting hot showers, private decks and immersion in nature. Stroll over to the dining tent for meals or enjoy private bush meals in hidden destinations on game drives. A captivating bush lunch and dinner under the stars later!

Depart Serengeti National Park for Arusha

Day 10

The final bush breakfast, followed by a game drive to the airstrip and fly to Arusha Airport. Road transfer to Arusha Coffee Lodge for one night if you need it before you leave the country or continue on your safari. Picture the original homestead of the early 1900s here when safaris and coffee were bosom buddies and feel the aura of this graceful old lodge that once housed coffee plantation landowners.  Goodbye for now, see you again soon!
