Overview
We booked a family suite at Abalone Lodge in Hermanus and I found out that this is in fact a rare marine species called ‘Perlemoen’ in the local Afrikaans language! So we all ate breakfasts on the terrace every morning and then walked along the path along the cliffs to watch the whales in the bay. We saw the Southern Right in what looked like a family group! My teenage kids also loved the spa treatments and the time to put our feet up and stare at the sea all day! I will return one day I hope.
Set above the magnificent sandy beaches of Hermanus, right on a precipice overlooking Walker Bay, Abalone Guest Lodge is a 4-star guesthouse boasting spectacular sea views and a great whale-watching spot.
Abalone Guest Lodge provides some of the best holiday suites in Hermanus, boasting only 9 luxury rooms with private bathrooms and patios, all ideally placed to take in mountain and sea vistas.
Feast your eyes on the indigenous Fynbos including the national flower, the King Protea, and maybe you will see the national bird, the graceful Blue Crane on your travels.
