Day 1Hermanus

Your first stop is Hermanus and the renowned Whale Route! When you land at Cape Town International Airport, get your arranged hired car and embark on a journey you will never forget. Enjoy the picturesque 2-hour drive from Cape Town, along the stunning coastline, to Hermanus.

Did you know that Hermanus is famous for the best whale watching from the shore in the world? In this unique case, you watch whales from spectacular cliffs while huge mountains watch over you. Stroll along the whale watching boardwalk and stop for a drink at one of many restaurants and bars. Relax in this beautiful seaside village, buy a few curios to take home and take many photographs of whales breaching and lob tailing as you sip good local wine. The best time to be in Hermanus is during the whale’s breeding season, from June to December every year. Take in the rustic craft markets, boutiques and art galleries. While here, you may as well book an exciting Great White Shark cage diving excursion – see these extraordinary predators up closes. Then play 18 holes of golf at a top class golf course or go hiking in one of the many nature reserves. Look out for South Africa’s national bird, the Blue Crane.

There is nothing wrong with warming South African proportions, washed down with wines from the valley!
