Overview
Duba Plains Camp is so simply elegant that it does not impact on the natural environment out there – it enhances the dramatic unfolding of wildlife events. Staff here run a slick operation where three intense nights at the camp will reward guests with incredible lion sightings and other game action.
Botswana Safari Accommodation without the frills but with the service and plenty of animal life, Duba Plains Camp in the Okavango Delta is all about game drives in open 4×4 vehicles to see infamous interactions between lions and buffalo. Extensive grassy plains offer spectacular views for miles around and intense colourful sunrises and sunsets.
The five Meru-styled tents and one family suite with two bedrooms are raised on handmade railway sleeper wooden decks with private balconies and plunge pools looking out over the magnificent Delta floodplains. Elegantly decorated with wide mesh windows and plenty of air and light, the large central bed is the focus point which is under a walk in mosquito net and eco air-conditioning system. Enjoy soft sofas, outside showers and solar heated water.
The cosy lounge and intimate library with inviting bar off the side at the main guest area make a stay at Duba Plains worthwhile and comfortable. A tea and coffee station goes all day and at night, guests sip good wines beside the raging fire in the boma pit as animals move like ghosts on the floodplains below.
Splashing in the pool and meals on the shady outside deck are must-dos at this Okavango Delta camp. Some people will remember the story about filmmakers Derek and Beverly Joubert who made Relentless Enemies, a documentary about lions interacting with buffalo on the plains. This was their base, Duba Plains Camp! The big cats are prolific here, not to mention herds of elephants, antelope and some rare species like Aardvark and Pangolin. Book your Botswana Delta package tour with the experts and we will add-on adventures to Chobe or Moremi.
