Overview

Jack Bousfield, while on a trapping expedition in the Makgadikgadi Pans, stumbled on a site that captured his imagination so much that he set up camp under an acacia tree and Jack’s Camp was born to capture the feeling that everyone else should find its beauty.

Feel part of the magnificent Makgadikgadi Pans, a relic of one of the world’s largest super-lakes that dried up thousands of years ago as a result of the continued shifting of the earth’s crust. Your tent is one of 10 Bedouin-styled chalets thrown with Persian rugs, cotton sheets and outside showers with wilderness views. Chill on your private deck to join fellow guests out quad biking, walking, game driving and birding. Look out for the famous black-maned Kalahari lions as well as hyenas and flocks of flamingos in the drier seasons.

A Botswana safari to Jack’s Camp is a comprehensive desert experience, and focuses on unique species of wildlife found only in this area, such as gemsbok, aardvark, and springbuck. Guests are practically guaranteed to spot the rare and elusive brown hyena and walk through the Kalahari with wild meerkats. Wildebeest and zebra herds pass by, drawn by the lush grass, and for several months the desert of the Kalahari teams with game and predators.

Jack’s Camp Botswana provides an inviting oasis in a naturally harsh environment. Large marquee tents built on raised wooden platforms house the main areas, with a dining and lounge tent decorated with a wide variety of maps and natural history objects.  Steps lead down to the fire-pit where you can enjoy evening drinks under the stars while reminiscing on your day. The enormous swimming pool is just a short stroll away.

The ten guest tents at Jack’s are romantic – there is no electricity and paraffin lamps spread a warm and inviting glow around your room. Antique canopied 4-poster beds dominated the en suite bedroom. You can also choose to have a night out on the pans under the Milky Way and greet the new day in the most unforgettable way.
