Kapama Buffalo Lodge Kruger National Park

Kapama Buffalo Camp is a luxury tented safari lodge in Kapama Private Game Reserve, best suited to travellers seeking a more authentic and intimate Kruger safari experience. It stands out for its elevated tented suites, smaller camp size and classic safari atmosphere. For travellers deciding where to stay in Kapama, Buffalo Camp offers a more immersive and traditional bush experience compared to larger lodges.

Location and Setting

Kapama Buffalo Camp is located within Kapama Private Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem. The reserve shares an unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to move freely across a large conservation area.

The camp is set beneath a canopy of indigenous trees, with suites raised on stilts and connected by wooden walkways. This elevated position creates a sense of immersion in the bush while maintaining privacy and excellent views.

This setting suits travellers who want a quieter safari environment with a stronger connection to nature.

Experience and Game Viewing

The safari experience at Kapama Buffalo Camp focuses on traditional game drives combined with a slower, more immersive lodge atmosphere.

Morning and afternoon game drives offer consistent opportunities to see the Big Five, including lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino, with leopard sightings depending on conditions. The reserve also supports strong birdlife, making it a good destination for birding.

Guests can also enjoy bush walks and optional experiences such as sleep-out platforms, adding variety to the safari. The overall pace is relaxed, allowing time to absorb the environment between activities.

What do past clients say about this destination?

18/04/2023

Don’t go anywhere except to Kapama Buffalo Camp in the private game reserve of the same name near Kruger. We loved our safari holiday here, it was a dream come true for sure. Yes, we saw plenty of buffalo and so much other game our eyes were on stalks most of the time. It was so peaceful here away from hotels and people. Everything was top class from the lovely staff to the delicious food and wow game drives. We loved the 5-star spa treatments too in between all the outside fun. Thanks, Kapama!
