The larger, self-catering cottage, Churchill’s cottage, features some of the best views in the area, out towards Spioenkop mountain, the scene of a famous battle. Families can be completely private here, with their own swimming pool, entertainment area, open-plan lounge and kitchen and two large ensuite bedrooms – the ideal setup for families with teenagers!

This upmarket and homely accommodation is the ideal location for a midlands holiday for those who wish to explore the major Anglo-Boer War Battlefields of Spioenkop and Colenso, the Northern Drakensberg Mountains (World Heritage Site) and the Anglo-Zulu War Battlefields (Isandlwana and Rorke’s) which are a mere 2hrs away.
An eco-friendly KZN battlefields lodge set on the former site of a British military headquarters – Three Trees Lodge has been constructed mainly from wood and iron to resemble the settler housing kits that were brought out from Britain in the 19th century.
