Days 1 – 2
2 NIGHTS, BED AND BREAKFAST BASIS
Arrive at the new Durban airport and self-drive to The Oyster Box Hotel, an impressive and award-winning hotel on the seashore at Umhlanga Rocks just north of Durban. Days 3 – 4
2 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS BATTLEFIELDS NATAL
Leave the coast and head towards the famous Battlefields kzn region to find Three Tree Hill Lodge at the the historic Spioenkop Battlefield where the Boers fought off the English from their vantage point on top of Spioenkop Hill. A professional guide brings it all to life for you, a vital part of South Africa’s history with many stories still being told. Return to Three Tree Hill Lodge for some pampering and relaxation in elegant surroundings. Enjoy the superb views over a region alive with our heritage.
Days 5 – 6
2 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD FUGITIVES DRIFT LODGE
More battlefields for the historically interested will make for a fascinating kzn holiday! Continue this picturesque tour as you wend north to experience the famous battlefields of the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War. Here you will wander around the historic sites of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift where hundreds of British were lost during their biggest defeat. You will stay in Fugitives Drift Lodge, the place where the survivors from Isandlwana crossed the Buffalo River.
Days 7 – 9
Leave the KZN Battlefields, your head ringing with all the history you have absorbed, some of South Africa’s most pertinent and heart-rending battles! Time to feel you again in the pristine wilderness of the fantastic Phinda Private Game Reserve in the east of Natal. Settle into the elegant Phinda Mountain Lodge boasting panoramic views of the scenic Ubombo Mountains and the South African bushveld beyond. Game drives, bush walks and top class cuisine!
Day 10
Your last morning sees you enjoy one last game drive and a sumptuous breakfast. Then you sadly check out of the Phinda Game Reserve and drive south along the N2 to Durban, taking about 3 hours to complete your safari and continue onwards with your own travel arrangements. Adieu!
