Getting to Timbavati by air is the easiest option. International visitors can fly from OR Tambo International in Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport or to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and Phalaborwa Airport too.
The flights from Cape Town go to Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport. From there, your chosen safari lodge will arrange a transfer as part of your special package to Timbavati Game Reserve. These transfer trips take about one hour.
For visitors who don’t want to waste time, it is best to fly via a private charter or a scheduled charter flight with Federal Air from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
Choose Timbavati because it is a major conservation success story in South Africa. This pioneer private game reserve was created in the 1950s when like-minded landowners agreed to combine their individual farms to form this 53 000-ha conservation area under the Timbavati Association.
Choose Timbavati because it is teeming with wildlife, waiting to be discovered as part of your safari adventure to South Africa. Find it bordering Thornybush Private Game Reserve and adjoining Kruger Park’s western boundary. This is classic big five game viewing territory, so you will not be disappointed. Get close to the wildlife on open 4×4 game viewing vehicles in beautiful landscapes where off road driving is permitted on this private land.
Choose Timbavati because it offers a thrilling safari experience: all-inclusive luxury lodge accommodation, game drives and bush walks with professional rangers and trackers, plus specialised outings tailor made to suit guests’ interests and needs. Expect jaw dropping sightings of lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebra, antelopes and other herds of plains game. Maybe you will be lucky to find the elusive white lions that made Timbavati famous in the 1970s.
