Welcome to a Kenya conservation area named after the people who were here first, the Samburu tribes, a Nilotic people of north-central Kenya, being semi-nomadic pastoralists who herd mainly cattle but also keep sheep, goats and camels. The name they use for themselves is Lokop or Loikop, a term which may have a variety of meanings. Be amazed by the brilliant beauty of the extensive Samburu National Reserve, its epic dry plains bisected by the meandering river, and the backdrop of Africa’s dramatic Mount Kenya.
