Sasaab Camp

Unrivalled luxury at Royal Madikwe Safari Lodge

Visit the splendid Sasaab Camp in spectacular Samburu Game Reserve with Voyage2Africa and become part of a life-changing luxury safari destination that is so beautifully designed it takes your breath away – delight in the innovative Moroccan twist and uninterrupted views to Mount Kenya.

Voyage2Africa creates irresistible tours to this Samburu safari camp for travellers to Kenya who are seeking an authentic wilderness experience with game viewing excursions into the well-known Samburu Game Reserve. Sasaab is one of our top-rated luxury lodges found in the 35 000 ha Westgate Community Conservancy on the western edges of Samburu and boasting compelling views over the Ewaso Nyiro River and typical rolling open plains towards Mount Kenya.

Thatched roofs, white washed stone floors, colourful Arabic rugs everywhere and carved wooden couches covered in Moroccan style cushions – feel the African aura sweep over you as you relax in the cool interiors. Wander down the paved path to the vast dazzling swimming pool to lay in the shade and swim between game drives, watching the river for elephants and buffalo, herds of zebra and more. The U-shaped main guest areas encourage chats in the soft lounge chairs, al fresco dining and a gift too for mementoes to take home.

Visitors are treated to lavish accommodation in 9 tented suites sprawled along the hillside in their own private spaces – enormous living spaces, whitewashed floors and thatched roofs offer cool respite from Africa’s heat in tasteful Moroccan styled interiors. Enjoy carved four poster beds reminiscent of Zanzibar’s history, showers, mosquito nets, private decks complete with plunge pools and ornate benches decked out in soft colourful cushions and everything facing the wondrous views of the famous Samburu landscape.

Sasaab Camp is loved for its family-friendly accommodation and service, its compassion for disabled customers with wheelchair access and its flexibility for meals and personalised rates. Make the most of elegant facilities for all those who love their mod cons including a spa and gym equipment, massage and other beauty treatments in the spa, by the plunge pool, or in the privacy of your room.

Overview

Discover the captivating Sasaab Camp within the Ngutuk Ongiron Group Ranch, part of the Northern Frontier of Kenya – bordering Samburu National Reserve so all visitors get to see the endangered Grevy’s zebra and large herds of elephants. Idyllically perched upon a rocky ridge above the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, Sasaab wilderness views extend mindfully toward the legendary Laikipia Plateau and Mount Kenya.

Constructed using locally sourced materials, this Samburu safari camp reflects the delightful architecture of a Moroccan homestead, a refreshing contrast from the standard safari designs and boasting light and airy tented suites. Guests can look forward to world-class hospitality and exceptional service from the friendly and attentive staff who strive to ensure a memorable experience for all.

Kenya accommodation at Sasaab is in 9 Moroccan-styled tents, enormous inside and comprising a colourful bedroom, sitting room and showers, double beds or twin beds. Sleep like a dream in ornately carved 4-poster beds draped in Egyptian cotton sheets with additional luxury amenities such as cooling fans, Wi-Fi and plunge pools at the edge of relaxing private verandas.

Wander down paved paths to the main guest areas to take a dip in the azure swimming pool or chill out with a cuppa tea on a soft couch in the lounge and dining area – a central mess tent with superb Moroccan chic. In-room massages and babysitting services are available.
