Wilderness Jacana Camp is an archetypal Okavango Camp – the holiday most visitors to Botswana dream about – and it’s named after the Lilly Trotter The Jacana or Lily Trotter is a tropical wader bird with long toes prevalent on lagoons here. Jacana Camp nestles in the Jao Concession deep in the Okavango Delta offering some of the Botswana and delta safaris. The camp may be intimate but the atmosphere is enormous and the island is a palm tree lover’s paradise where lush tropical habitat is a paradise for water-based activities.
This model Botswana water camp offers rich sightings of aquatic and wetland species such as the Lesser Jacana, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Wattled Cranes, rare sitatunga and red lechwe antelopes, hippos and crocs. Strolling on the land in between the water are elephant, zebra and their associated lion and cheetah predators.
