Experience the solitude of Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Community Concession from the comfort of Khwai Tented Camp in Botswana’s rich game viewing region. This community-based wildlife resource area is perfect for small groups who are accommodated in luxurious tents close to nature.
The permanent Khwai River separates the tented camp from Moremi Game Reserve where giant leadwood trees thrive. Numerous animals come to the river’s natural pans from Chobe Game Reserve, the Linyanti-Savuti Region and the Okavango Delta in the north of Botswana. Travellers to Khwai and Moremi Game Reserve should see African Wild Dog, Cheetah, lion, leopard and elephant. Animals are not shy of the camp so that sightings are rich and very real!
There are no permanent structures at Khwai Tented Camp – everything can be removed to leave as little impact on the wilderness as possible – and only solar lighting and wind up bedside lamps and are used.
The main open-sided canvas marquee is decorated with tasteful cushions and materials with hammocks, antique couches, teak furniture and a large communal table for meals.
Mokoro excursions, in the Moremi Game Reserve, or visits to Khwai Village where the ‘river Bushmen’ live – the Bayei people – are also popular.
Guests will enjoy the tantalising bush cuisine offered at Khwai Tented camp, the sundowner spot near the river and the blazing log fire at night.
