Discover Amboseli at Tortillas Safari Camp

It’s a luxury safari camp named after that tree that symbolises Africa, that Tortillas Acacia in all the photographs about Kenya, the umbrella thorn that stands alone in a waving grassland – come and discover Tortillas Camp in the great Amboseli Game Reserve when you next visit Kenya.

A must stay destination for safari lovers with the dramatic backdrop of Africa’s highest stand alone mountain, Amboseli National Park is indeed an Eden – 392 square km in size and the central point of a vast 8,000 square km ecosystem that spreads across the Kenya-Tanzania border. You can experience one of the best wildlife-viewing experiences in the world in a world class destination featuring 400 species of birds including water birds like pelicans, kingfishers, crakes, hamerkop and 47 raptor species.

Find the one and only Tortillas Camp Amboseli nestling in a private conservancy bordering Amboseli where enrapturing game drives, bush walks, grassland sundowners and wilderness meals add mystery and adventure to your safari holiday. Large spacious safari tents with adjoining showers and attractive décor embrace all guests who then meet up in the delightful thatched main lounge, bar and dining areas, created from wood and stone.

Some visitors prefer to be alone in the Private House and Family Tent a little way away on a little hill with their own swimming pool and commanding captivating views of Kilimanjaro.

Game drives are the main attraction at Tortillas Camp and guests like to find the acacia tree after which the camp is named – enjoy sundowners in special areas every evening and awaken to the dawn to game drive early again.

Tortillas Camp is small and intimate and “glamping” style tents have amazing hot showers and patios and days start with “wake up” deliveries of hot beverages and cookies to your tent, followed by incredible game drives. Two game drives a day reveal the whole conservancy and park and all of its wildlife including more birds than you can count, hippos, lions and their cubs, herds of elephant, hyenas, jackal, zebra, giraffe, warthogs, wildebeests, and numerous types of antelope.

Overview

Tortillas Camp features 16 safari tents on the edges of Amboseli Game Reserve in a private conservancy where wildlife is so rich it seems like a dream and the dramatic Mount Kilimanjaro forms the best backdrop to your safari holiday in paradise.

Families are welcome at Tortillas in special larger tents with ensuite showers and seating areas, plus large beds and undulating views over the grasslands towards the famous mountain. Thatched main guest areas are typical of older traditional safaris and the resident acacia trees offer welcoming shade and birdlife for all keen wildlife enthusiasts. Swim all day in the shade of the palms in a swimming pool made for cooling off in the wilds of Amboseli.
