Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

3 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

Arrive at Mfuwe Airport, meet your guide from Nkwali Camp and drive there via colourful villages, game viewing as you go. Nkwali Camp is the perfect base for your South Luangwa adventure, the private home of the owners of Robin Pope Safaris, Robin and Jo Pope, with sweeping views of the Luangwa River. Open all year round, this authentic destination boasts a grand reputation of true wildlife adventures in Zambia, with compassionate conservationists. Only 12 privileged guests enjoy 6 cool, roomy A-framed eco-safari chalets made from woven bamboo, thatch and moulded clay for the innovative bathrooms.

Days 2 – 3

Choose to game drive or adventure off on a wild bush walk, or both! Experience excellent game drives, right into the heart of the Mfuwe Sector where abundant wildlife sightings make your day – sunset drives take guests into a surreal world of nocturnal sightings, a sensory explosion of wonder. Walks reveal the beautiful flowers, insects, animal tracks and interconnectedness of the wilderness around you here in South Luangwa.  On the other hand, if you prefer to go shopping, take a tour to Tribal Textiles to choose local fabrics to take back home.

Day 4

4 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

Enjoy an early breakfast, then a game drive transfer to a crossing point on the Luangwa River to meet Camp Nsefu staff who will cross the river by boat or car, taking you back on a 45-minute drive to camp, game viewing all the way. Nsefu was the very first photographic camp in Zambia and these original huts have been rebooted to accommodate safari adventurers like you. Feel the aura of old-world charm in your welcoming traditional thatched roof rondavel with whitewashed walls and restored interiors. Double beds, showers and private decks with river views make your day.

Days 5 – 7

3 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

Tuck into a fresh breakfast then set off on a day out and about to visit the local Kawaza village, the grove of huge old Ebony trees and the historic salt pans that birds love. Explore the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa to find wildlife galore then return to camp for dinner in the boma. Robin Pope Safaris have managed Nsefu since 1998, improving the camp’s six original brick and thatch rondavels with en-suite showers. Enjoy stupendous, 360-degree vistas in a new way every day and open-plan facilities at the thatched bar, dining area and lounge – all focused on the game, the river, and the horizon.

Day 8

It’s time to leave after breakfast so pack your bags and take the drive to Mfuwe airport then to Lusaka Airport where you will fly to Livingstone. Arrive at Livingstone International Airport, meet your Sindabezi Island staff member for the drive to your next lodge. At first, Sindabezi was a basic place to camp out but today it is an intimate honeymoon and wedding destination for pure romantics who love Africa.   The island lodge is part of nature, and environmentally friendly and has been rated as one of Africa’s top 10 eco-lodges thanks to its minimal carbon footprint and solar-powered energy systems.

Days 9 – 10

Only 5 luxury chalets open to the environment with plenty of light and air, extensive river views and access to the wildlife all around also offer free-standing bathtubs with superb outlooks. Everything is doused in soft natural light in the evenings thanks to the candles and hurricane lamps instead of electricity. So much to do here including trips to Victoria Falls, white water rafting, bungee jumping from the Vic Falls Bridge, game viewing and walks in the rainforests.

Depart Livingstone
