Luangwa and Livingstone
Upon your arrival at Mfuwe Airport, you are going to be met by a guide from Nkwali Camp who will meet you and transfer you to Nkwali Camp through colorful village life and a bit of game viewing too. This camp is set on a wide view of the Luangwa River. On private land, and overlooking the South Luangwa National Park, Nkwali offers both a stunning location and easy access to the park. The six rooms all look out over the river and have open-air bathrooms. Meals are served looking out over the lagoon to the back of Nkwali or dotted around the camp, so you can fully appreciate the openness of Africa – whether it’s the clear skies or magical starlit sky at night!
An option is there to take a walking activity or game drive; or even both. For those with a knack for shopping can take a trip to Tribal Textiles for locally printed fabrics that are sewn into various items – perfect for souvenirs or gifts for friends and family.
After an early breakfast, a transfer game drives through the park takes you to a crossing point on the Luangwa River. The Nsefu staff will meet the party, who will cross the river by boat or car, and then enjoy a 45-minute drive to camp, game viewing on the route. Nsefu was the first game camp in Zambia and dates back to the early fifties. The Nsefu Sector was recognized then as a phenomenal area and it still is. Robin Pope Safaris owns the only two camps in this sector of the Park.
After breakfast around the campfire, your safari will continue with another relaxing day at Nsefu, with morning and evening game activities and the possibility of visiting Kawaza village. This community tourism initiative is a great opportunity to meet local people and experience life in a real non-tourist village. If you wish to visit, then it is best to mention this when booking your holiday or on arrival. Today is also a chance to drive or walk through the ebony groves. Or you may decide this is an ideal day, depending on the heat and time of year, to explore the Nsefu Sector of the National Park possibly with an all-day picnic drive to the salt pans that will cover different habitats and is an exceptional day’s safari.
After breakfast in camp, depart Nsefu Camp to Mfuwe airport and you will arrive at Lusaka Airport where you will fly to Livingstone. On arrival at Livingstone International Airport, a representative from Stanley Safaris will meet and transfer you to the lodge (20 mins), where you will settle into your accommodation. Stanley Safari Lodge is located on the hills overlooking the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls in a bush location.
There is a wide range of activities on offer in the area that can be booked at the lodge these include trips to see the falls, town museums and markets, and sunset cruises. For the more adventurous, Livingstone boasts a whole host of adrenaline-filled activities including whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, and micro lighting. Or you may just wish to rest in camp and enjoy the spectacular scenery and peaceful atmosphere. The day will end with a relaxed dinner and perhaps drinks in the wine cellar.
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Livingstone Airport in time for your onward flight.
