Back at camp, there is the covered bar and dining area and the open boma fireplace, the comfy lounge area on its own with open sides so that all nature is close and the warmth of Malawi enters your very soul. Elephants graze around the camp and drink at the river as well as plenty of antelope and smaller mammals. Liwonde National Park never ceases to disappoint – buffalo, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, zebra, roan and eland were historically hunted to extinction in the area. Find them protected now within ‘the sanctuary’. Black rhinos mingle with these creatures in their 4 000ha fenced area within the Park.
