Find the camp located on the confluence of the Shire and Mkulumadzi Rivers within Majete Wildlife Reserve, 70km South West of Blantyre. Majete is Malawi’s only Big 5 Reserve and also one of the largest protected areas covering an incredible 70 000 ha of untouched wilderness.

Days 2 – 3

Only 8 deluxe bush chalets at Mkulumadzi offer plenty of space, huge beds, lounges, outside showers and fantastic private viewing decks – their unique slanting roofs are covered with live indigenous plants to maintain natural temperatures at all times, in an eco-friendly design. Chill in the shade of huge wild mango and leadwood trees beside the swimming pool and dining deck. Game drives, boating safaris, bush walks, hiking up Majete Hill, black rhino tracking, cultural tours, birding trips on the Shire River and wildlife spotting from a hide.

Day 4

3 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

A top-class breakfast then farewells and take your 3-4 hour road transfer to Kuthengo Camp in the birding mecca of Liwonde National Park. Spot outstanding bird species such as Livingstone’s flycatcher, Pel’s fishing owl, Spur-winged lapwing, Lillian’s lovebird and the rare Brown-breasted barbet, easily sighted in Liwonde. See more herds of mammals such as elephants and antelope than predators and get out on a boat cruise to view wildlife from the water level.

Days 5 – 6

Stay in5 luxury spacious safari tents, with private showers and viewing decks discreetly hidden amidst the thick undergrowth bordering the lagoon. Meet fellow guests in the camp’s al fresco dining area overlooking the river and lagoon – your special safari holiday includes all meals plus thrilling game drives by day and night in open vehicles, walks and boat safaris where you can explore the Shire River and lagoons to see elephants, hippos, crocodiles and birds. Observe fauna and flora in the secret viewing hide on a tributary of the Shire River and visit the local school and rural communities.

Day 7

4 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

Enjoy a scenic 5-hour drive transfer to Nkhotakota Reserve making the most of the magnificent landscape and vibrant culture along the way. Truly an undiscovered gem located firmly off the beaten track, this reserve has only recently been inhabited by humans. Tongole is an eco-tourism venture deep within the Miombo woodland of Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, on the banks of the lovely Bua River, west of Lake Malawi. Get out on magical bush walks and treks, canoe trips, scenic sundowner drives and fly fishing attempts.
