Day 1

3 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

Arrive at Blantyre International Airport, and meet your guide from Robin Pope Safaris. Drive the 2.5 hours to Mkulumadzi Lodge through colourful local scenes of villages, agricultural fields, and bushveld. Find the camp ideally sitting on the confluence of the Shire and Mkulumadzi Rivers within magical Majete Wildlife Reserve, 70km South West of Blantyre in Southern Malawi.

Days 2 – 3

Discover the luxurious Mkulumadzi Lodge in a compelling part of Majete Wildlife Reserve and appreciate daily game drives, boating safaris, bush walks, hikes up Majete Hill, black rhino tracking, cultural tours, birding trips on the Shire River and watching wildlife from a hide. One of Malawi’s largest protected areas, Majete covers 700 square km of pristine bush, enhanced by the many stately Baobabs and soaring large-leafed African star chestnuts, which are particularly spectacular.

Depart Mkulumadzi Lodge, Majete Wildlife Reserve, for Kuthengo Camp, Liwonde National Park, Malawi

Day 4

2 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

After breakfast and farewells, take the 4.5 hour road transfer to Kuthengo Camp. If you love birds, then this is the park for you – Liwonde National Park is considered one of the top birding locations in Southern Africa. Get close to healthy herds of elephants in beautiful riverine habitats along the evocative Shire River floodplains on your astonishing boat safari, one of the many highlights of a holiday safari at Kuthengo Camp.

Day 5

Explore the Shire River and lagoons – an excellent opportunity for sightings of elephants, hippos, crocodile and birds. Special birds to look out for include Lillian’s lovebird, brown-breasted barbet, osprey, palm nut vulture, Pel’s fishing owl and Livingstone’s flycatcher. Spend time in the viewing hide on a tributary of the Shire River and enjoy a fascinating visit to the local school and surrounding rural communities.

Day 6

3 NIGHTS, FULL BOARD BASIS

Transfer to Pumulani Lake Lodge after breakfast, via a scenic 2.5-hour drive north (around 2.5 hours). The Nankumba Peninsula of Lake Malawi is recognised as one of the most beautiful shores of the Lake and borders Lake Malawi National Park. This World Heritage Site aims to protect the rare endemic cichlid fish and is a spectacular game-viewing and water sport arena. Settle into your luxury elevated villa with beach and lake views.

Days 7 – 8

The lavish Lake Pumulani Lodge offers two infinity swimming pools beside the lake waters, a central dining room with extensive water views and delightful modern facilities. Chill on the beach, snorkel to find the hundreds of species of colourful cichlids or try a special diving course near one of the islands. Fishing, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, tube rides and dreamy dhow rides into the sunset add to your dream holiday. Meet some of the friendliest people in Africa.

Depart Pumulani Lake Lodge, Lake Malawi (South), for Lilongwe, Malawi

Day 9

Breakfast and a swim on the final day of your stay at Pumulani then it’s time to bid farewell. Transfer back to Lilongwe in time for your onward connection.
