Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1 – 3

Welcome to Malawi! Arrive at Chileka International Airport, meet and greet with transfers to Huntingdon House to enjoy 2 nights at this glamorous colonial house surrounded by unparalleled beauty, the Satemwa Tea and Coffee Estate. Huntingdon House is the epitome of old colonialism in Malawi, from the beautiful backdrop of the tea estates to the manicured lawn with a croquet set up. The formal rose garden, cosy lounge with fireplace, delicious food and a tea-inspired cocktail menu! Explore the coffee and tea plantations, the bamboo nursery and more.

Days 3 – 5

After your stay tea and coffee adventure, we will take you to Majete Wildlife Reserve to witness an incredible conservation success story and Malawi’s only Big Five Park with thriving animal populations and plentiful birdlife. Stay at Thawale Tented Camp, excellent accommodation in six tented chalets with magnificent waterhole views. Guests meet in the central dining and restaurant lapa and enjoy an amazing birding platform or game viewing from the secret hide.

Days 5 – 7

From wildlife at Majete to waterfalls and trout fishing on the captivating Zomba Plateau! Your few days at Zomba Forest Lodge, at the foot of Zomba Plateau, is a welcoming holiday in a quaint and homely guest house with gorgeous gardens and views over the plateau. Mouth-watering food and friendly hosts. Explore the waterfalls or enjoy a less strenuous but beautiful hike through the forests. Hike to the top of the plateau, crisscrossed by streams and dotted with waterfalls and still lakes.

Days 7 – 9

Drive to Liwonde National Park’s Mvuu Camp situated along the Shire River within the park wilderness. A beautiful stone and canvas camp also offers large family tents and the delightful, thatched dining and lounge area looks over the river where two huge old baobab trees stand proud. Dine under the stars in the firelit boma and guests can also book out the conference and education facilities. The camp is very family-friendly and encourages small kids to learn about nature.   Explore Liwonde on land and on water, from its thriving populations of black rhinos and cheetahs to the endless bird species – the most breath-taking place to experience Malawi’s flourishing wildlife.

Days 9 – 11

Lake Malawi awaits, a dazzling destination in which to cool off! Transfer to Senga Bay for your boat ride to Blue Zebra Island Lodge where luxury chalets huddle in perfect pristine surroundings, embracing all visitors in heavenly nature. Chill at the infinity pool, kayak around the islands or enjoy a game of volleyball as part of the full board package. The subtle eco-friendly lodge offers snorkelling equipment to view the unique colourful fish that give the lodge its name. Executive chalets are a few minutes from the lake shores with sprawling balconies, endless water views, and hot showers.

Days 11 – 12

Latitude 13 is a stylish boutique hotel in the centre of Lilongwe, set in a lush green garden with a huge swimming pool. There is a beautiful spa and the whole hotel is filled with modern art made from recyclable materials such as washed-up glass and driftwood made by a women’s charity on the island of Likoma. This is Lilongwe’s most upmarket hotel and the restaurant is very popular with the city’s movers and shakers so we recommend popping in for a cocktail or two and dinner whilst here.

Days 12 – 15

Cross the border into Zambia to South Luangwa National Park. Catch a transfer to Kafunta River Lodge, a classic Zambian Safari Lodge, promising luxury bush chalets, a spectacular location at the edge of the floodplain and real commitment to sustainable tourism. Find the only hot tub in the Luangwa Valey beside the bar and infinity swimming pool, warm and inviting thanks to its natural geothermal source. Only 8 thatched safari chalets boast vast bathrooms, minibars, tea and coffee, and private decks looking out to the Luangwa River beyond.

Days 15 – 17

The delightful Three Rivers Camp is part of the Kafunta Safari Lodge group and is the first camp to be set up between the community and the park – wildlife wanders past the tents and the views of the Kapamba River are captivating from all parts of the camp. Some tents are right on the oxbow lagoon where hippos, waterbuck and giraffes hang out.  The main attraction is that each tent has its own private sleepout deck where you can watch the stars all night and listen to the night life!

Depart Three Rivers Camp, South Luangwa National Park, for Lusaka, Zambia
